This fundraising dream became a reality through the collaborative efforts of A-Line, Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Te Tai Tokerau, and the generous contributions from the Northland community. The result is an impressive and spacious cancer treatment centre spanning 1,636m2, purpose-built to address the shortcomings of its previous facilities. This state-of-the-art centre offers comprehensive day-stay treatment for cancer patients, encompassing initial consultations, chemotherapy treatments, and follow-up care from highly skilled medical professionals, along with an array of nursing and support services. The centre, designed as a two-level structure, effectively situates service rooms and full wards at ground level, accommodating up to 50 individuals simultaneously. With the capacity to conduct up to 30 treatments per day, this facility ensures efficient and timely care for patients. The newly elevated, standalone building not only provides ample space but also prioritizes privacy and comfort, creating an environment where patients feel at ease. Emphasizing its local, day care focus, the centre's design exudes a non-clinical ambience. The placement of nine chemotherapy treatment chairs near large windows overlooking lush green spaces creates a welcoming and homely atmosphere for visitors. Moreover, the building offers versatile meeting areas, consulting rooms, a procedure room, dedicated spaces for children, and the potential to expand its capacity according to the needs of the community. Additionally, the basement area spanning 895m2 has been thoughtfully designed to accommodate future growth and allow for potential expansions when more space becomes necessary.
